CHRISALYN PHILIPPE

From her youthful beginnings as Miss Missouri in the Miss U.S.A. World Pageant, how did a small town girl become a globally distributed fashion brand?  A childhood hobby of designing and sewing her doll’s clothes, grew into a college art major with a passionate love for fashion.  Stir in a flair for tasteful style and glamour with an entrepreneurs savvy, and you have CHRISALYN’s recipe for success.

Using a kitchen counter for design, a dining room table for an office and a car garage for the warehouse, over twenty years ago, CHRISALYN began her fashion journey by first designing garments for her elegant retail women’s clothing stores, in prestigious Palos Verdes and South coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California.  She then sold those stores with the mission to sell her designs to the premiere department stores, Nordstrom’s and Saks Fifth Avenue.

With her newest collection in hand, CHRISALYN found one large factory with very kind hearted owners that believed in her special designs enough to produce the smallest order they had ever accepted.  Hoping for a small test order, CHRISALYN showed her twelve piece collection to Nordstrom’s with no initial reaction from the buyer.  Then with a big smile, the buyer said, “You are going in every Nordstrom store.”  CHRISALYN first went into shock and then set up a meeting with Saks Fifth Avenue.  Saks also ordered chain wide for every store.  For two years, she designed, managed production, and shipped every piece herself.

Things have changed notably since then.  In numerous fabrics, yarns, knits, and wovens, CHRISALYN designs 1,000 new styles per year, in five collections a year for America, and two collections a year for global distribution.  Her seven factories use old world techniques to hand loom, crochet, hand apply, and embellish her unique feminine designs.  CHRISALYN’s design creations hit a peak with her win of the prestigious Dallas, “DESIGNER OF THE YEAR” fashion award.

Today, CHRISALYN’s designs have been showcased around the world through 10 America sales offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, San Francisco, Atlanta, Florida, Mid Atlantic, and New England, with international sales throughout the world through 25 sales offices in Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, Russia, Scandinavia, South Africa, Spain, and the Middle East.  CHRISALYN’s collections have sold strongly to thousands of specialty stores, major department stores, including Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Cache, Lily Reuben, and multiple catalog companies.
